Hello!
I came across your blog because I am researching my name for a Creative Writing paper. My name is LAELIA!!!!! How do you pronounce your daughter's name? My dad named me because he is a horticulturist and his favorite orchids are Laelias. My name is pronouned as if the first part rhymes with "pail" or "flail"....like this..."lail-ee-uh". I have never come across anyone else with my name so I was very surprised. I am 24 and studying at the UNiversity of Arizona, majoring in Creative Writing with a minor in horse studies. I am a Christian too! Did you know the flower was named after a Greek Vestal Virgin who died in Pompeii? The Vestal Virgins devoted their lives to serving in a temple until they were 30 and they were highly respected. Obviously I don't follow the goddess Vesta...haha...but I thought it was interesting because I have dedicated my life to serving Christ and your Laelia is being brought up with Christian parents. It seems like Laelias all throughout history have been very spiritual people. Sorry, maybe you don't care to hear me blab on and on. Anyway, I will pray for your daughter...a fellow Laelia(!) and for you too! I will pray that your daughter will grow up to serve the Lord with her whole heart as well.

I suggest looking at your local college that teaches early childhood development - at least when I took my classes up here, there were always a number of ladies in there looking for work part-time while they finished their classes. Plus, often you will find a specific special ed class being taught that you might find someone persuing special ed as a career.....maybe even become friendly with the instructor of those classes to get a recommendation from them....just an idea...plus, if they ever have worked in a preschool or such, they would have been bonded and fingerprinted by the state of CA! I wish we lived closer :(
